Participation
You are expected to participate in the discussion every day, so please come to class prepared. Participation includes asking questions, answering my questions, or volunteering information in other ways. You will be expected to read sections of the book before they are discussed in class. This will help you understand and participate in the discussion better. (There may be occasional pop quizzes.)
There will be a number of problems assigned per other week. Your solution should be well
thought out and written up neatly. Although you may work together on the
homework, but each of you should write in your own words. No late homework will be accepted.
Your course grade will be based on homework (30 points), two midterm exams (20 points each) and the final exam (30 points)*.
* If you maintain
a good record of participation and homework, before the final exam, you may
request to be considered for another grading scale, called early success
option. After my approval, your term grade will be calculated as 30% quizzes & homework with two midterm exams (35%
each).
